Mountain Dew | Welcome Mariah Duran

Mountain Dew officially announced today that professional skateboarder Mariah Duran has joined its elite roster of action sports athletes. Twenty-two-year-old Duran, who was inspired by her older brother to skate, has been successfully showcasing her skills at skate competitions around the world for the past nine years. She joins the impressive list of DEW skateboarders Sean Malto, Theotis Beasley, Curren Caples, and Chris Colbourn, and snowboarders Danny Davis, Julia Marino, and Red Gerard.

Duran, an Albuquerque, New Mexico native and winner of the 2018 Dew Tour Long Beach Zumiez Destroyer Award for best trick, nabbed her first X Games gold medal on the street course in Minneapolis this past July and added a second gold medal to the list in Sydney in October. Her tricks of choice usually include hardflips and front 360s, and when she’s not skating, you’ll likely find her shooting hoops or hitting the gym.

“Out of all the sports I’ve played in my life, skateboarding has always been my biggest passion,” said Duran. “Skateboarding has taught me so much about life – building confidence, learning through trial and error, and always focusing on progression. These are the things I value most about skateboarding. And being on the DEW team as their first female skater really means a lot because I have the opportunity to help grow women’s skating.”
