Started Skating: 2005ish?
Sponsors: Vans Shoes, Rogue Skateboards and Revolutionz Skate/Snowboard/Ski shop in Greenwich
How were you introduced to skateboarding and what got you started?
Probably when I first played Tony Hawks Pro Skater on PS2 and thought I might give it ago myself. Haven’t quite made a 360 Mc Twist yet though!
Do you remember what your first setup was?
It was this complete blank setup that I bought in a sports shop when on holiday to New York. It was a kinda ‘do it yourself’ project where you had to put it together. Although the first day I skated it I had the trucks facing the wrong way round!
Were there any early influences on your skating?
My friends probably, they’ve always kept me going.
How is the skate scene in the UK?
I love it. There’s such a mix of people that skate and because there are hardly any girls that skate it makes it more exciting because you always stand out from the crowds.
What is the best and worst thing about your hometown?
It’s got some nice and quite awkward skate spots and a great lil skate park in Mudchute. Although it’s quite a touristy town so there’s a lot of people around, most of which have a problem with skaters getting in their way or making too much noise!
Besides skateboarding, what do you like to do in your spare time?
Well I’ve been drumming for quite a while and at the moment I play for two bands. With them I’ve had quite a few gigs around London and Brighton that are always a laugh.
What is your typical day like?
Wake up around 7:30ish get dressed and ready for Sixth Form/College, have a good ol’ bowl of cereal (usually Frosties..mmmunch!), then come home from schoolio have some din dins and then go out with friends or end up babysitting. Although if my school day ends at around lunch time I go for an afternoon skate, usually outside my front door or at the local park in Mudchute.
Do you prefer to skate with guys or girls?
Well to be honest I don’t really mind as long as I’m skating. I’ve even been known to go for sessions by me self!
Where do you like to skate?
Either street spots that I get kicked out of in about 5 minutes like Canary Wharf but Mudchute Skatepark is always a good one.
Who do you like to skate with?
I spend most of my time skating with friends: Jamie, Moby, Shakes, Chris and Olly and a few other local nutters.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I’m one of those annoying people that genuinely do listen to all sorts. But to break it down I listen to Punk, Jazz and Soul, bit o hip-hop, alternative bits and bobs like Death Cab For Cutie or whatever you call that stuff, some Metal and good ol’ Rock.
What is something most people don't know about you?
Urmm..I don’t know I guess that I’m really quite determined! But I think most people know that already considering the amount of times I fall when trying to land a trick but still bounce right back up again until I get it!
So far, what have been the highlights of your skateboarding career?
Probably taking part and if I’m lucky winning some comps and also going to demos. Winning the National Women’s Day comp and Nass were amazing and the recent demo I took part in at Rampworx in Liverpool was a lot a fun. But in general just building up new skills and tricks when skating with friends is coolio.
What do you have planned for this year?
Well hopefully a lil tour abroad and a few comps and demos here and there would be wicked.
Shout outs and thanks?
A big thanks to Vans, Revolutionz Skate/Snowboard/Ski shop in Greenwich and Rogue Skateboards! But can’t forget Chris, Moby, Olly, Jamie and Shakes and my younger bro Benji, mum and dad who have put up with my antics for a loooong time!
