For this episode of Boardly, we hang out with Christiana Smith at Modern Skate Park in her hometown of Royal Oak, Michigan. When Christiana was 17, she filmed a short documentary about her experience and perspective as a black female skater called Skate in a Dress. The doc gained traction and opened her eyes to her purpose – Positive Seed – an organization she founded in 2017. Through her organization, Christiana uses the community of skateboarding to create more inclusive spaces for people to come together and make a difference. Boardly is a video series that spotlights women from all walks of life who share one thing in common: a passion for skateboarding that has shaped who they are in equally different, yet unique ways.
